American Association of Teachers of French: helps promote the teaching and learning of French in the US by sponsoring events like the National French Contest and organizing annual conferences in the US and abroad. It also produces publications like the French Review and National Bulletin.
Our Mississippi chapter supports AATF by administering the NFC as well as promoting National French Week. It also aims at providing local French teachers with resources specific to the state of Mississippi.
Alliance Française de Jackson: sponsors monthly dinners, provides French classes and free weekly conversation groups for their members. Their conversation groups meet at Banner Hall in Jackson on Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:30 and at Cups at the Quarter on Lakeland Drive on the third Saturday of each month from 2:00 to 3:30.
Mississippi Foreign Language Association: organizes fall conferences as well as regional workshops. It also provides a multitude of links to very useful sites that address the needs of world language educators.
Mississippi Department of Education: provides teachers with a world language framework, links to resource and research associations such as ACTFL and CARLA, a list of private and public colleges/universities, electronic discussions lists and links to cross-cultural interaction and projects.
Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Southern Mississippi: offers French as a major and a minor at the undergraduate level and provides a master's degree in the Teaching of Languages with an emphasis in French.
